Josien Hendricksen

Since I first stepped on board of a tall ship (and researched the plastic soup) in 2014, the ocean has not let me go. I love sailing; being surrounded by water, the peace it gives me to be at sea and being handed over to the forces of nature. A recipe for happiness! However, seeing plastic polluting our nature makes me feel sad. I cannot leave a beach without a cleanup, but I want to inspire others to take action as well, while showing the beauty of our oceans at the same time. With a degree in Aquaculture and Marine Resource Management, focussing on seaweed and tropical marine ecosystems, I work as a marine researcher. I am very happy I can combine this job with being a volunteer at The Ocean Movement and put words into action!
