What people say about previous expeditions

Wim: “You enjoy sailing and life on board a traditional ship. Along the way, you experience what it’s like to conduct real-world research into plastic pollution. Educational, inspiring, and great fun.”
Justyna: “A fantastic way to spend an active weekend at sea while gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges facing our environment.”
Max: “I had a great time. Sailing on a large traditional ship was an amazing experience, the sense of teamwork was strong, and I found the quizzes both informative and engaging.”

Take your team to sea

Corporate Expeditions

SailingWe believe the plastic crisis can only be solved together  and that change starts with experience. On board a traditional sailing ship, we show teams the problem with their own eyes, invite them to take part in real scientific research, and help them turn insights into action. No abstract sustainability talk. Just a day at sea that stays with you long after you return to shore.

Discuss the possiblities!

What an expedition looks like

Your team boards a traditional sailing ship in Zierikzee or Harlingen and sails into the Oosterschelde or the Wadden Sea. Along the way, together with our researcher, you deploy a Manta Trawl: a scientific net designed to collect microplastics from surface waters. Whatever we find is analysed on board under the microscope. The data becomes part of our long-term research dataset on plastic pollution in Dutch waters.

Between sampling sessions, we sail, share meals, and have conversations about what plastic consumption means — for the ocean, for your company, and for each of us personally. By the end of the day, your team will have developed a practical action plan for both the organisation and the people within it.

Live on boardPrefer to design your own programme on board? That’s possible too. We provide the ship, crew, and optional catering, while giving you the freedom to shape your own workshops, discussions, strategy sessions, or team activities. The result is a day at sea that fully reflects your team’s objectives and ambitions.

Two ways to come aboard

The Team Day – from €3,000 all-inclusive

A full day at sea for an entire team, department, or company offsite. Suitable for groups of 20 to 35 people. Includes the ship, catering, the complete research programme, and an ocean expert on board.

That works out to around €150 per person — comparable to a typical team day, but with far greater impact and the opportunity to contribute to a real scientific dataset.

Ideal for: teams looking to combine their offsite with something meaningful, organisations with sustainability ambitions, and companies that want to unite people around a shared purpose.

The Leadership Voyage – from €4,000 all-inclusive

A weekend at sea for leadership teams, boards, or management groups of up to 16 people, including overnight accommodation on board.

We spend two full days together at sea, creating space for deeper conversations, strategic reflection, and a more substantial programme. When sailing on the Wadden Sea, we may even dry out overnight on a sandbank and — weather permitting — enjoy an extraordinary night sky free from light pollution.

A truly unique experience.

Ideal for: leadership teams, executive boards, founders, and organisations looking for a shared experience that lasts longer than an offsite in a conference hotel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need sailing experience?
No. The skipper and crew take care of navigation and sailing. You are welcome to help if you’d like. Many teams find that to be one of the highlights — but it’s entirely optional.

What happens if the weather is bad?
Our skippers know these waters well. In case of severe weather, we adapt the route or move the expedition to another date. The programme itself continues.

Can we depart from a different harbour?
Possibly. Alternative departure locations and sailing areas such as the IJsselmeer or Amsterdam IJ can be discussed, although they are not always feasible.

Can this be funded through our sustainability or HR budget?
Both are common. Most participating organisations combine sustainability and HR/People budgets. The expedition can also generate valuable input for ESG and CSRD reporting.

What if our team is vegan, halal, or gluten-free?
No problem. Let us know when booking and our cooks will accommodate all dietary requirements.
